You're Invited: Chinese Almond Cookie Bake Off in SF!
Come eat and judge almond cookies for the January bake off
Hello hello!
As premium subscribers, you have first dibs on signing up for the January bake off in San Francisco: Chinese almond cookies! These are often eaten to celebrate Lunar New Year, which is coming up at the end of January (perfect timing if you’re headed to any Lunar New Year celebrations).
As premium subscribers, you always get first dibs on sign ups—sign ups will open to everyone else tomorrow afternoon, so make sure to grab a spot before then!
These boxes will contain 9 samples of different Chinese almond cookie recipes. All recipes will include gluten, dairy, eggs, almonds and a couple will likely include lard*.
*As a pescatarian myself, I debated on the merits of including lard and whether I would even want to eat these cookies. In the end, I’ve chosen to include cookies with lard because 1) lard is made from animal byproducts so I see it as a relatively sustainable product/not causing additional significant harm to animals and 2) lard is the traditional fat used in these cookies, so I’m curious to compare a few options.
